The Dez Walters Country Band
Dez Walters began his musical career at an early age and by the age of 11 he had recorded his first single. This was in his home country of Wales, but later he adopted Scotland. During his teenage years he became the lead singer in rock bands and during this time he taught himself to play the guitar. He then went on to perform as a caberet singer in venues around the country and abroad.
His love for bluegrass naturally led him towards learning the intricacies of banjo playing and for several years he played in bluegrass bands, honing his skills on guitar, banjo and mandolin.
Listening to a variety of music over the years he discovered an interest
in Country Music and went on to play in different country bands, the most
popular being the unforgettable 'Country Dawn'. , where the beautiful
voice of Belinda complemented his
and who can forget her jokes -
clean and otherwise!
In 1992 he started his own band because he wanted to offer the public something different by performing his own material as well as having control over the choice of other songs.
His unique songs have been used in an American movie, have been recorded and are being performed by other artistes and have won him a prestigious award for Best Song and Songwriter in 1996.
He continues to write and perform his own songs and his shows contain a large and ever changing selection of these originals. Since starting his own group he has won numerous awards nationwide, including, for two consecutive years, being voted the 'Most Popular Country Music Band in Scotland'.
