Fletcher Jowers singer and songwriter of pure Cowboy music. Fletcher has been nominated for Entertainer Of The Year, Male Vocalist Of The Year, Song Of The Year as well as Album Of The Year. He co-authored, along with Red Steagall, the great song "Sleepin' In My Leggin's Tonight" which was on Red's Wrangler Award winning project "Dear Momma, I'm A Cowboy". He also wrote "When The Roses Bloom Next Spring", a cut on Red's project "Love Of The West". Fletcher has lived the life of a cowboy, working on ranches throughout the West.
Nine out of the 10 tracks are written by Fletcher, all story songs with a gospel theme in the true cowboy spirit similar to the likes of Michael Martin Murphy, Don Edwards or Marty Robbins. The title track Church at The Wagon tells about a cook who takes a bible on the trail drive and holds church every Sunday at the wagon. You Never Alone reminds you that God is always there if you need him - A Memory Of Jim mourns the passing of an old friend and Ol' Snake tells of the preacher who makes a deal with the cowboys that if he rides Ol' Snake they'll turn up at his church on Sunday.. of course he rides the horse.. the cd finishes of with Marty Robbins' The Master's Call . Good stories well sung and backed by the excellent Tommy Allsup on lead guitar and Bobby Boatright on fiddle. Sit back, close your eyes and listen and you are sitting round a campfire on the trail listening to the cowboys singing at the end of a long day.

Tex Beaumont - Rose Tattoo - is 13 songs, all composed by Tex, from Oh My Pretty One (shades of Roy Orbison) to the heartbreaking Girl with The Rose Tattoo with a great Mex feel followed with the moving soldier wondering if his loved one know that Color Of The Rose he is wearing is the color of the dress she wore when they said goodbye - nice accordian backing. The mood picks up with Manana Pretty Mama. One of my favourite tracks is New Moon Over Kansas is a nice lilting track, loads of steel.
I have not found much information about Tex anywhere online but Tex has that soft gravely lived in country voice I could listen to all night. 13 good songs all well produced by Johnny Lee Schell and sung by Tex. Go have a listen to some samples at cdbaby.com also look out for Tex's earlier highly acclaimed albums "ONE EYED JACKS", and "RESTLESS HEART", also on cdbaby. |
She Drives is the third Cd released by Canadian singer/songwriter Debbie Bergeron. Ten tracks all written by Debbie. The powerful opening track,"Everything is Gone" is being played on radio across Europe. A warning to all guys - she is tired of waiting for her man coming home and moves out and he finds Everything Is Gone ( she even took the dog) - you can feel the anger. I can hear Reba singing this one. The tempo drops to the haunting sounds of Lone Rider the lonely cowboy thinking back on his life of not wanting to be tied down. Ten tracks taking you through various emotion of woman /man relations My Heart's Not In It she is with the wrong man to the catchy Ring Ring Telephone Ring - they have a fight and finally she puts her pride aside and gives him a call and leaves a message but why doesn't he ring back the final track and title track She Drives - it's Friday night , he comes home drunk but she cannot fight the demon in him anymore so She Drives.
Every track is top quality backed by top musicians, some lovely dobro and mandolin, and Debbie's powerful clear vocals this is the best CD I have heard for a long time. go to http://www.debbiebergeron.web.com and listen to the samples you will be glad you did. |
Dallas Wayne - Big Thinkin - A native of Springfield, Missouri Dallas Wayne considers himself lucky to be able to make a living doing something he loves. In a twenty-eight year career that has taken Dallas around the world as a songwriter, singer, actor and radio deejay, he claims he's never had a real job. After four years living and touring in Europe, Dallas returned to the U.S. and settled in northern California. Within one month of his return, he signed a record deal with HighTone. The album Big Thinkin' was released in September 2000, marked Dallas' debut as a HighTone recording artist. Co-produced and co-written with Robbie Fulks, these stone-cold country originals bring to mind classic country the way it used to be.
I heard two songs from Dallas while he was on tour with Heather Myles and was blown away with that deep baritone voice of this singer/songwriter. Big Thinkin' is 12 tracks of pure honkytonk country. For UK listeners if you like Dale Watson or George Jones you'll love Dallas Wayne. [website] |

Robert Martin - Weather The Storm When I read - Texas singer /songwriter, loads of fiddle and steel - then I am instantly interested. Robert Martin's debut album is everthing I hoped for. Weather The Storm is the debut album for singer/songwriter/physician, Robert Martin, on the independent Rodeo Records label in Fort Worth, Texas. Produced by long time Texas country music entertainer, Steve Stewart, this collection of original songs blends traditional and modern country influences. Laced with telecasters, fiddles, honky tonk piano, and steel guitar, this is authentic country music. Ten original songs kicking off with Heavens Rodeo about the aged rodeo rider dreaming about the days before he went into an oldfolks home and waiting for "Heavens Rodeo" Weather The Storm A song of hope and perserverance . has some lovely steel. What Love's All About...A song about married life and true love, with a bunch of kids running around. This I can relate to.
Robert says " I just take what I like from the western swing and cowboy music, blend in some honky tonk sounds with the urban cowboy sound... and presto...there you have it! I decided long ago to be myself in my songwriting, no matter what the current trends may be." An excellent album of original songs. website or cdbaby

Singer/songwriter Chad Cline left the farming community of Fort Chiswell Virginia in 1997 with $600 and an old farm truck with his dreams and headed for Nashville. After working various jobs, Chad joined Gibson Original Acoustic Instruments .Working with the company of the instruments he played, Chad continued writing and also found his opportunity to perform around town and has several songs published.
I'll Never Tell contains ten of Chad's songs sung in his clear unique vocals accompanied by some of the most wonderful sensitive acoustic backing I have heard in a while, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar and dobro.
My track of the album has to Teardrops, if only .... he had done this or that then she would not have left. if teardops could go back in time and make themselves not fall.
"Granny's Song" about a woman who loved her family and her Lord like no other. who would sing and pray when the whole world didn't think there was much to pray about. Through the hard times and good times she always found her answer. It's truly a song about love. Granny's love.
Chad turns up the power on the song about traveling down the Lonesome Dark Highway about lost love. "Freight Train Dreams" is a song about making decisions that affect the rest of your life. The not knowing, the struggles, The story is told for the listener to see that even though you may take the wrong track, home is still home, even if you can't change the past.
A wonderful album that deserves to be played and played. www.chadcline.com

What a pleasure to listen this CD, both Clelia's lovely clear vocals and the terrific musicians, especially the steel guitar on Bob Wills Faded Love and piano on the Marti Brom uptempo Eat My Words.Clelias interpretation of Hank's Mind Your Own Business alone is worth buying the Cd for but with her sensitive versions of Speed The Sound of Lonelieness and Fade Love it make for a wonderful listening experience.
